چکیده

Further restrictions on the use of compression-ignition engines in transportation are prompting search for adaptations to run other fuels. One most popular alternative fuels is Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), which due its low carbon content can be competitive with classical This paper presents results testing a Cummins 6BT compression ignition engine that has undergone numerous modifications convert CNG power. The sequential gas injection system and were installed this engine. ratio was also lowered from 16.5 11.5 by replacing pistons. Tests conducted an dynamometer show differences emission conversion catalyst hydrocarbons contained exhaust gases. Two structurally different catalysts operating at temperatures (400 500)±2.5°C used. 500±2.5°C showed 23.5% higher rate than lower temperature range speed tested. Also external indicators, such as power torque case took values over 70% higher. research one stages comprehensive assessment possibility adaptation CNG-only fueling.

Impact of Compressed Natural Gas Fueled Buses on Street Pavements

Federal Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 (CAAA) and the Energy Policy Act of 1992 (EPACT), together with other state regulations have encouraged or mandated transit systems to use alternative fuels to power bus fleets. Among such fuels, compressed natural gas (CNG) is attractive, although it must be stored in robust, heavy pressurized cylinders, capable of withstanding pressures up to 5,000 psi...

Experimental Study of Hydrogen Addition Impact on Emissions and Performance of a Natural Gas Fueled Engine

Hydrogen is seen as one of the important energy carriers of the future with potential to reduce local as well as global warming. The main by-product of the combustion of hydrogen in air is water vapor and trace quantities of oxides of nitrogen. An experiment was conducted to study the impact of hydrogen/natural gas blends on performance, thermodynamic efficiency and exhaust gas emissions in ...
